Censoring poetry

The government has removed Wilfred Owen’s poetry from the national curriculum, allegedly to increase diversity. He was a brave young British officer who was killed in action in the First World War – and a great poet whose poetry exposed the horrors of war.

Increasing diversity is not the government’s real objective in removing Wilfred Owen’s poetry from the national curriculum. Warmongers do not want children to learn the realities of war. We live in dangerous times and those who forget their history are doomed to relive it.

I suggest that every Peace News reader write to their local MP and to national and local newspapers about this decision. For evil to triumph, it is only necessary for good people to remain silent.
